“The much-anticipated crimson Shiranui”
This variety was discovered by Kagoshima breeder Koichi Ohno as a branch mutation of “Shiranui” and was registered as a variety in 18. It is characterized by a stronger crimson color than any other Shiranui fruit and was originally planned to be named “Beni Dekopon,” but it was ultimately named after Koichi Ohno’s family. It has an easy-to-peel skin and no seeds, inheriting the characteristics of the Shiranui. It has a rich taste with a moderate acidity. If you think the acidity is a little strong, storing it in a well- ventilated place will remove the acidity and give it a mellow flavor.
It’s also full of juice and very satisfying to eat. This is a highly sought-after citrus fruit whose recognition and popularity are steadily increasing with each season.
